The Editorial Process

Initial review is by the editor’s back office. Incomplete or editing deficiencies as per Backbone: The Spine Journal format, if not there are straight forward declined or asked for resubmissions.

Editor and Associate editors team looks into each and every submissions. The collective decision if needed by voting will be final. Submissions outside preview interest of Backbone: The Spine Journal, with insufficiencies, major scientific or technical flaws, or lack of a significant message are rejected before proceeding for methodological peer-review. If any specific aspect needs to be incorporated then re-submission is invited before peer-review.

Further then appropriate manuscripts will be sent to two or more expert reviewers from the review board. The reviewers should not be affiliated to the contributors. Editor’s have final authority on this in case of any conflicts.

The author is requested to provide a response to reviewers comments in a point-by-point way and submit a revised version of the manuscript. This process is repeated till reviewers and editors are satisfied with the manuscript.

Accepted manuscripts for publication are copy edited for grammar, punctuation, print style, and format. Page proofs are sent to the corresponding author. It is to be returned with the corrected proofs within seven days. It may not be possible to incorporate corrections received after that period.

The Backbone: The Spine Journal journal follows a double-blind review process. A manuscript should be submitted only at Backbone: The Spine Journal without any simultaneous submissions elsewhere.
